How to compare franchise costs
Start with the operating format. A kiosk, conversion and new restaurant can have very different budgets under the same brand.
1. Compare matching formats
The directory shows the envelope across supported opening formats. On a profile, find the format you plan to operate and read its inclusions and exclusions. A development-rights fee is not a complete opening budget.
2. Separate investment from qualification
Opening investment describes the disclosed cost range. A liquid-capital or net-worth requirement describes an applicant qualification. Keep these separate and ask what funds must remain available after opening.
3. Add recurring charges
Identify royalties, advertising, technology and other required charges. Note the calculation base, frequency, minimums and conditions; percentages with different bases are not directly comparable.
4. Build your own cash plan
Use local quotes, lease terms and staffing assumptions. Model a slower sales ramp and maintain a separate allowance for your household needs. Review the current FDD and agreement with qualified advisers before committing.
