Opening costs vary by format, location and lease terms.

Auto Body Conversion total investment
2025 FDD: $196,000–$644,000 for an Auto Body Conversion. This means an existing or recent auto-body facility already zoned for that use, without structural modifications. The estimate includes three months of additional funds but excludes real-estate purchase, financing charges, interest, debt service and owner draw or salary.Held 2025 FDD, amended 2025-12-15
Ground Up or Non-Auto Retrofit total investment
2025 FDD: $728,500–$3,994,000 for Ground Up or Non-Auto Retrofit. Ground Up means undeveloped land; Non-Auto Retrofit means a non-auto-body structure requiring structural changes. Proper zoning is not assured. Real-estate purchase, financing charges, interest, debt service and owner pay are excluded.Held 2025 FDD, amended 2025-12-15
Working capital, premises and development rights
Both formats include $50,000–$75,000 for three months of additional funds, excluding owner draw or salary. Typical leased premises are 7,200–10,000 square feet; stated monthly rent is $5,600–$15,000 or more. The separate $87,500 three-center development-rights fee is not the cost of opening three centers.Held 2025 FDD, amended 2025-12-15
Royalty and conditional discounts
The standard royalty is 8% of gross receipts, paid weekly. Newly developed centers pay 4% for their first six months; resales do not receive that introductory rate. Separate development incentives can reduce royalties for eligible agreements, with performance thresholds, default conditions and potential repayment.Held 2025 FDD, amended 2025-12-15

Running the business

Full-time principal operator
Unless Maaco approves otherwise in writing, the franchisee—or the approved principal operator if the franchisee is more than one person—must devote full time to management and supervision and operate the center at all times. Required owners/operators must complete initial training; personal guaranty and signature obligations apply.Held 2025 FDD, amended 2025-12-15
Suppliers and required purchases
Use products that meet Maaco’s standards and approved paint suppliers; required software uses designated vendors. Maaco can require other approved sources, including affiliates, and keep supplier rebates. Insurance is mandatory.
Initial training and ongoing support
Initial training usually lasts three weeks and must be completed at least 30 days before opening. Maaco also provides two weeks of on-site opening assistance. You pay required refresher fees and travel expenses. Ongoing advice and inspections are discretionary.
